Established in 1854, initially operated ship carrying a cargo of olive oil and textiles from Sardinia to Liguria. In 1924, Federico, Eugenio ed Enrico son of the founder of this company started to lead, he started his commercial activity by buying boats Ravenna. This activity continued until the introduction of the voyage carrying passengers between Italy and South America in 1947 The company was subsequently changed to an independent company that operates cruise ships and became the largest in Europe. In 2000, the company was acquired by Carnival Corporation, and became one of 11 brands operated by Carnival Corporation.
